Empowering Kilifi Together: Nurturing Growth, Building Sustainable Futures

Building a Reliable and Sustainable Energy Future

The Department of Lands, Energy, Housing, Physical Planning, and Urban Development is dedicated to advancing Kilifi County’s energy infrastructure to ensure a reliable, sustainable, and efficient energy supply. Our energy infrastructure development efforts are crucial for supporting economic growth, enhancing quality of life, and promoting environmental stewardship.

Our key initiatives in energy infrastructure development include

Energy Expansion Projects
We oversee the expansion of electricity distribution networks to provide reliable power to underserved areas. This includes upgrading existing infrastructure and extending connections to rural and peri-urban communities under programs like the Last Mile Connectivity Program.

Infrastructure Upgrades
We focus on modernizing energy infrastructure by replacing outdated equipment with advanced technologies. This includes upgrading power lines, substations, and transformers to improve efficiency and reduce outages.

Renewable Energy Initiatives
We support the integration of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and biogas into the county’s energy mix. By promoting sustainable energy practices, we aim to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Energy Efficiency Programs
We implement energy efficiency measures and promote the use of energy-saving technologies. This includes initiatives like installing energy-efficient cookstoves and supporting community-based energy conservation practices.

Infrastructure Maintenance
We ensure the ongoing maintenance and repair of energy infrastructure to guarantee consistent power supply and minimize disruptions. Regular inspections and timely interventions help maintain the reliability of the energy network.

Community Engagement
We work with local communities to educate them about energy conservation and the benefits of sustainable energy practices. Engaging residents helps foster a culture of energy responsibility and supports the successful implementation of energy projects.

Through strategic energy infrastructure development, we aim to create a robust energy system that supports Kilifi County’s development goals, enhances economic opportunities, and contributes to a greener and more sustainable future.
