Kilifi Launches Energy Clubs

Company
In an attempt to promote energy efficiency and conservation technologies in Kilifi County, the County Energy Directorate, in partnership with the Clean Cooking Association of Kenya, is currently implementing a program focused on the establishment of energy clubs in secondary schools and youth polytechnics across the County.
The primary goal of establishing these energy clubs in educational institutions is to actively involve students in sustainable energy practices, enhance their comprehension of energy conservation, and motivate them to become proactive contributors to a more environmentally-friendly future. These clubs will serve as platforms for education, innovation, and community engagement, cultivating a culture of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility among young learners.
Furthermore, the energy clubs will be responsible for overseeing the sustainability of tree planting initiatives in schools, as well as the installation of institutional biogas digesters and solar projects. These efforts will pave the way for potential career opportunities in the field of energy sustainability for our youth, thereby shaping the future of energy conservation.
Recently, the County Energy team visited Chumani Secondary School to introduce the concept of energy clubs to the teachers. They also conducted a tour of Katana Ngala Secondary School to assess the institution’s cooking technology, offering guidance to teachers on the most effective methods for energy conservation and efficiency.
