The Department of Lands, Energy, Housing, Physical Planning, and Urban Development, through the Directorate of Energy led by the Ass. Director Mr. Wilfred Baya has undertaken a significant endeavour to improve safety and enhance economic activities. This initiative involves conducting fieldwork to identify suitable locations for the installation of streetlights in Watamu Municipality.
The installation process will prioritize key streets and roads, such as Aquarius – Barakuda Road (432 meters), Roundabout Makaburini – Watamu Road in Watamu/Mitini village, Makaburini – Kambeland Road, Timbo Taka – Timboni Inn area, Mbuyuni police station – Gaza street, and Posta – Sokoni Road.
The primary objective of this project is to illuminate these thoroughfares, thereby ensuring the safety of residents and visitors and promoting a 24-hour economy in the region.
The Department remains dedicated to safeguarding the well-being of County residents.
