Kilifi Power Project Meeting

Company
The County Executive Committee Member (C.E.CM) for Lands, Energy, Housing, Physical Planning, and Urban Development, Hon. Jane Kamto, convened a meeting with representatives from KETRACO Transmission System Planning to discuss the project milestones of the ongoing 132Kv Rabai- Bamburi-Kilifi transmission line.
The project entails upgrading the existing 132Kv line from timber to more durable steel towers and constructing a new substation in Kilifi to enhance the region’s power infrastructure. It also involves expanding the capacities of Kenya Power’s 132/33 Kv Kilifi substation and the Bamburi substation to meet increasing energy demands.
In preparation for the project’s energization, the team is engaging in a Baseline Data Collection Exercise to gather comprehensive feedback on the current quality of power performance. The insights obtained will be crucial in showcasing the anticipated positive outcomes and impacts of the project upon its completion.
Our department remains steadfast in its dedication to ensuring a stable and reliable power supply. We acknowledge the significant role that energy plays in promoting socio-economic development within the county. By improving our energy infrastructure, we are laying the foundation for a brighter and more prosperous future for the residents of Kilifi County.
Also in attendance were the Chief Officer for Lands, Energy and Physical Planning, Mr. Samuel Menza, Ms. Vivian Kemboi HSC, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at Ketraco, Ms. Winfred Mutinda HSC, Electrical Engineer at Ketraco, and Mr. Wifred Baya, Assistant Director for Energy.
